Social Media platforms as humans

Art by Jamie aka luvpie1997
I found this cute personification of various popular websites! Can you spot the ones we're using for this class?

These original characters are collectively known as The Interwebs Series. They were conceived by the tumblr user luvpie1997 (now 8-butt), aka Jamie. The characters proved to be very popular, inspiring lots of fanart, fanfiction, and even cosplays by other netizens. Since then, she has created a blog (The Interwebs Series) for the series, where she posts art and short comics.

Have you used these websites? Do these personifications match up to your impressions?

My local library: Brunswick (Moreland)

I'm lucky enough to live within reach of three public library networks: Melbourne City, Moreland City, and Moonee Valley City. Of these three, the service I use most is Melbourne City, but the library I visit most is Moreland City's Brunswick branch, as it is closest to my home and workplace.

The library is situated on Dawson St, just around the corner from the Brunswick Town Hall on busy Sydney Rd. Even though it looks a bit lacklustre from outside, the interior is colourful and modern, with large windows on one side allowing plenty of light into the children's area.

The staff are always lovely and happy to help, and the library has a broad range of resources to cater to its multicultural community of all ages. It's very close to both trams and trains, and right in the middle of the bustling cultural melting pot that is Brunswick.

How to "Follow" other blogs

For our Social Media class, we need to stay up to date with the student blogs in our class. Doing that can be difficult, especially when we have so many other social media platforms to keep track of too! One simple trick to help with this is to Bookmark the class blog Vic Uni Library Studies 2016 Social Media 1 in your browser, or to place a hyperlink to it from your own blog to get to it quickly. From there, you can access the student blogs listed on the page. Today, I want to highlight another method: following blogs via your dashboard.

When you sign into Blogger and view your dashboard you'll see a list of your own blogs, and below that your "reading list". Your reading list allows you to quickly preview all the latest posts from every blog you've "followed", all in one place! You can also choose to only view posts from a particular blog. This will save you the trouble of checking each page individually to see whether new posts have been made. So how do we go about adding blogs to our reading list? Read on to find out!
